We?re looking for a Cancer Awareness Coordinator to join our team.
As Cancer Awareness Coordinator you will play a key part in helping to
catch cancer early by designing and delivering early detection and
cancer awareness programmes.

WHAT YOU?LL DO

Catching cancer early is a key factor in increasing survival from

THE CANCER AWARENESS COORDINATOR is responsible for supporting the
strategic priority: _That more cancers are detected at an earlier
stage._

* The CANCER AWARENESS COORDINATOR WILL SUPPORT THE development of a
longer term cancer prevention, awareness and early detection strategy
for the Society.
* The role will involve, building upon existing programmes and
delivering new evidence based, high impact cancer awareness
programmes, targeted at specific high risk communities.
* Using Health Promotion and Community Development approaches the
coordinator will develop key relationships with relevant partners to
build capacity and mobilize communities and workplaces around cancer
prevention and early detection. ?
* She / He will work with internal and external stakeholders to
ensure that targeted communities are resourced and supported to
develop cancer risk reduction and early detection programmes.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

_STRATEGY AND INNOVATION _

* Contribute to the development of a cancer prevention, awareness and
early detection strategy for the Society.

* Bringing insight into public health, communications and heath
behaviour change to the Society, and develop new proposals for early
detection programmes and interventions.
* Ensure an inclusive approach to early detection and cancer
awareness, identifying and implementing ways to reach and engage
marginalised communities and those at higher risk.

_PROGRAMME DELIVERY AND COORDINATION _

* Design and deliver cancer awareness and early detection talks,
workshops and programmes to employers, community groups and other
audiences;
* Support the Cancer Prevention Manager to plan, coordinate and
deliver the Your Health Matters Roadshow and other community-based
cancer awareness programmes;
* Deliver effective training internally and externally, including
?train the trainer?.
* Support the development of a community based volunteer programme
to ensure that as many people as possible are aware of our services
and that cancer awareness messages reach as many people as possible.

_EVALUATION AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT _

* Across all programmes and work, design structures to gather data
and feedback to effectively evaluate and manage quality, performance
and impact.
* Continuously scrutinise programmes, and recommend evidence based
changes, based on evaluation and research.

_COMMUNICATIONS AND CONTENT CREATION_

* Create copy and content, and contribute to the development of an
overall plan, to promote cancer awareness and early detection to the
public across multiple channels.
* Input into submissions to Government, and represent the Society on
working groups and other external bodies to advance the prevention and
early detection of cancer.
* Develop impactful content for training and programme delivery,
including online and face-to-face.

_PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONAL DELIVERY _

* Coordinate the implementation of our early detection strategy, and
awareness and prevention activities, bringing together team members
across the Society to ensure a coordinated and impactful approach.
* Effectively project manage early detection and cancer awareness
projects, such as our Roadshow programme, public awareness campaigns,
or corporate engagement initiatives.
* Coordinate the operational delivery of early detection programmes,
including engaging with vendors and the management of volunteers?

_RESEARCH _

* Identify opportunities for further research (academic or market
research) to support our early detection and cancer awareness strategy
implementation.
* Effectively manage the delivery of market research projects and
reports, working with external vendors.

travelling within Ireland (e.g. to Roadshows, talks or workshops)
including occasional overnight stays, and weekend/ evening work may be
required.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

* You will hold a third level qualification in health promotion or in
a related area (e.g. health sciences, nursing, teaching, nutrition,
sports and exercise) or equivalent ?on the job? experience.
* You will typically have at least 4 years? experience in health
promotion. The Society measures experience based on the quality of the
experience obtained, rather than in time passed and welcomes
applicants at all stages of their career.
* You will have experience in running effective projects, with a
project management qualification an advantage but not essential.
* Experience in working with marginalised groups and in tailoring
programmes and approaches to engage people of all backgrounds, an
advantage.
